Perugia - Umbria [ Italy ] FLAG

I think this is the hardest part: talking about me. Talking about yourself is a little bit putting yourself in front of a mirror, reflecting on what you have been, who you are and what you want to be.

Hi, my name is Giovanni Maw and I am a photographer of pathos.

I live in Umbria, precisely in Castiglione del Lago. I am among the 20 Italian photographers to represent Italy in the world, through the Discover The Other Italy project , sponsored by Expo 2015, ENIT - Italian Tourism Agency and Fai - Fondo Ambiente Italiano. My landscapes are mainly characterized by sunrises. This for several reasons, first of all the wonderful sensation of the first ray of sunshine of the new day.In my photographs I try to capture not only the beauty of the landscape, but the surreal atmosphere that is often created. Many times I happen to shoot with some adventure friends and finally I ask myself: but what is the reality ?, from which eye is it right from which shot? . I believe that the reality of things exists only in our minds, it only takes a centimeter more or less for the photo to change the atmosphere. I remember that post production in film in many cases is much more invasive than that of the light room. This search for the perfect light often leads me to drive several hours, walking in the woods with rain, snow, heat ... to try to get there before the sun in the appointed place, with my equipment and my inseparable Canon. I love nature and everything that surrounds it. Many times before taking a photo I observe, listen to the noises, the sounds of dawn, I like the cold morning air and the scent of the freshly plowed land. to photograph is very important, but the difference, inevitably, is made by instinct, what the head cannot perceive ... and that is why one of the most famous quotes of This search for the perfect light often leads me to travel for several hours by car, to walk in the woods with rain, snow, heat ... to try to get to the place before the sun, with my equipment and my inseparable Canon. and everything that surrounds it.
